Provo commission to consider permanent road closure

The Provo Planning Commission is holding a public hearing on Wednesday night over the permanent closure of a downtown street to accomodate the development of a new LDS temple.

The partial closure of 100 South at University Avenue would change traffic patterns but the planning commission doesn't believe it's a problem.

The Provo Tabernacle was heavily damaged by fire two years ago and the LDS church announced it would convert the historic building into a temple.

This is a news release from Provo City.

Provo City is planning for the future of parks, recreation and trails in Provo.

In October 2011, the City began a nine-month process to develop a Parks and Recreation Master Plan.  This process is grounded in multiple forms of community input that is being utilized to develop the plan.  These include multiple public meetings, numerous focus groups and interviews, and a statistically-valid household survey.

The consulting team led by PROS Consulting, LLC, has been hired by the City to assist in organizing and facilitating the planning process, and to produce the final plan.   PROS Consulting is a specialized management consulting firm that uniquely serves public park and recreation all over the United States and internationally.  The PROS Consulting team members are former parks and recreation managers themselves, and are renowned for assisting communities to develop strategically ambitious and financial conservative parks and recreation systems.  The project team will utilize public input to identify the community’s prevailing needs, interests, values, and priorities related to parks, recreation, trails, and recreational fields for the next 10 years.
