Ellertson Named Utah County Commission Chairman for 2012

Commissioner Larry Ellertson of Lindon was named chairman of the Utah County Commission for 2012 during the regularly scheduled Utah County Commission meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.  Commissioner Doug Witney of Springville was elected vice chairman.

Ellertson has served on the Utah County Commission since January 2005. In November 1996 he was appointed mayor of Lindon City and served in that position until his election to the Utah County Commission.

A local Utah County man was selected by the Washington DC based National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC) as the 2011 Educator of the Year.  Jared Stewart, who has taught at Provo's ScenicView Academy for nearly a decade, was flown to a resort on Sanibel Island, Florida earlier this year to receive the award at the association's 40th anniversary conference.

S.R. 92: ALPINE LOOP TO CLOSE TO MOTORISTS

Orem, Utah - The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will close state Route 92 (The Alpine Loop) between Provo and American Fork Canyons to motorists this Monday, October 31, 2011.  In preparation for the winter months routine maintenance will be performed on the road prior to the first snow storm of the year.

 

S.R. 92 is a seasonal highway and due to heavy snowfall in the area, it becomes cost -prohibitive to keep the pass open for travel during the winter months. This road will remain closed through spring 2012.
