Provo utility rate increase to begin Nov. 1

This is a news release from Provo City.

After a public hearing on September 20, the Provo Municipal Council voted on a method for charging all electric utility customers for the bond payments associated with the city's fiber optic network, also known as iProvo.

The method selected is a combination of flat rates and percentages. All residential customers will be charged a flat rate of $5.35 per meter. Commercial customers will be charged a flat rate of $10 and an additional 2.3% of the electric portion of their utility bills.

The charge will appear as a separate line item on utility bills labeled "Telecom Debt Charge" and will begin November 1.

Santaquin water testing results for June 22

This is a news release from Santaquin City.

Santaquin City tests its water in full compliance with Utah State Standards which requires that our water is tested monthly with samples taken from eight random locations.

Four of our most recent water samples, pulled during the month of June, were obtained on June 2,2011 and the remaining four samples were obtained on June 9, 2011. All eight samples tested indicate that E. Coli and Coliform were marked "absent" which indicates that our water meets State standards.

Santaquin City received a phone call on the afternoon of June 21 from Carolyn Harris of 437 East 560 South in which she stated that she thought the City's water contained E. Coli.

Memorial Day decorating at the cemetery

This is a news release from Spanish Fork City.

Spanish Fork City Parks Department would like to thank all those who decorated the cemetery with flowers for Mother’s Day. It is always a beautiful sight.

Our crews are now preparing the Cemetery to look great for Memorial Day. We need your help. Cemetery patrons have placed plants, cut flowers, potted flowers, artificial flowers and plants, baskets, containers, stands, and other memorabilia around the head stones and sometimes covering the grave site. This makes it impossible to maintain the grass without removing or damaging the memorabilia.

Please remove these items from the grass around the head stones on or before Sunday, May 22. Some grave markers provide room on the concrete skirting around the headstones for placing these items that won’t conflict with the string trimmers and mowers. We encourage patrons to use these areas only and keep all items well away from the grass.

Flooding information from Spanish Fork

This is a news release from Spanish Fork.

The winter snow fall has accumulated to over 200% of average in some of the mountain drainage areas. Combine this extremely high snow pack with the relatively cold spring we have experienced and the Spanish Fork River is set for possible high water flows in the coming weeks.

Weather will now determine how quickly the snow will melt in the mountains. The hotter the weather, the quicker the snow will melt and the higher and faster the water will flow.
