Man charged for allegedly abandoning son at airport | Crime
A man who had been involved in a standoff in Washington County on Monday is also accused of abandoning his 15-year-old son at the Provo Airport in late January.
According to a statement released by the Provo Police Dept. Friday, Jason Alley's 15-year-old son was left at the Provo Airport on Jan. 25 after he and Alley had driven from San Diego, Calif., to find shelter. After their plans for a home fell, through, the boy was left at the airport.
According to Alley's son, he'd allegedly said he never wanted to see the boy again and left him at the airport with no money or resources to find shelter.
A warrant for 3rd degree child abandonment was filed by the Utah County Attorney's Office. He has also been charged in connection with a standoff in Washington County earlier this week in which he engaged in a 10-hour standoff with police, holding two underaged passengers hostage. [link]
The boy is currently in the custody of DCFS, who is attempting to make contact with his family in San Diego.
