American Piano Duo to perform free concert April 28

Utah’s Own 'Glee' Qualifies for National Show Choir Competition

The following is a press release from American Leadership Academy.

March 21, 2012 - American Leadership Academy’s (ALA) “Evolution” Show Choir recently competed in the prestigious Fame Hollywood competition and was awarded 2nd runner-up.  Fame Hollywood is one of five nationwide qualifying show choir competitions. The top three finalists from each competition then qualify for the National Show Choir competition held on April 20-21st in Chicago, Illinois.

Holi festival in Spanish Fork this weekend

The Holi Festival of Colors is this weekend in Spanish Fork.

The festival honors the deity Krishna. Every spring, he and his followers would grind up flower petals and throw them on each other.

The festival takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple (311 West 8500 South, Spanish Fork).

Colors will be thrown every two hours. Admission and color packets are $2 each.

Major Islamic art exhibit opens at BYU's Museum of Art

The largest traveling survey exhibition of Islamic art ever assembled in the United States opens this week at Brigham Young University's Museum of Art.

The BYU MOA is the premiere venue for “Beauty and Belief: Crossing Bridges with the Arts of Islamic Culture,” which opens Friday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. Under the direction of Dr. Sabiha Al Khemir, the exhibition features more than 250 objects from 10 countries, 42 lending institutions and 10 private collections.

“It is our hope that these works of art and the meaning and spirit they convey will enable our students, the Utah Mormon and Muslim communities and people all across the nation to develop a greater understanding and shared sense of purpose and affinity one with another,” said Dr. Stephen Jones, dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communications.

Respected Stanford chemist to speak in Provo
